Bumblebee Cowl - Free Crochet Pattern


Bumblebee Cowl

The Bumblebee Cowl works up quickly in half double crochet with a lace edging. It would be a great piece to complete in your favorite team’s colors!


Materials

Yarn Bee Comfy Cozy (#2 weight, 508 yards), 1 skein Mustard (Color A), and 1 skein Black (Color B), or any two colors of sport weight yarn. Cowl will use less than half of each skein.

Crochet hook size 3.5mm (E).

Yarn needle to weave in ends.


Stitches Used

Ch = chain

Dc = double crochet

Fhdc = foundation half double crochet

Hdc = half double crochet

Sc = single crochet

Sl st = slip stitch




Body

Round 1:  With Color B, fhdc 170, join to work in the round.

Round 2:  ch 1, hdc in each st, change to Color A, join with sl st to first hdc.

Round 3:  ch 1, hdc in each st, change to Color B, join with sl st to first hdc.

Round 4:  ch 1, hdc in each st, join with sl st to first hdc.

Rounds 5-10: repeat rounds 2-4 twice.

Round 11: repeat round 2.


Edging

Round 1:  With Color A, ch 3, dc in each st, join with sl st to top of ch 3.

Round 2:  ch 1, *sc in next st, 2 dc in next st, ch 2, 2 dc in next st, sc in next st, ch 2, skip next st*, repeat from * to * around, join with sl st to first sc.

Round 3:  sl st in next 2 st, sl st in ch 2 space, ch 3, 2 dc in ch 2 space, *ch 2, sc in next ch 2 space, ch 2, 3 dc in next ch 2 space*, repeat from * to * around, sl st in top of ch 3.

Round 4:  ch 1, sc in same st, (ch 2, sc in next dc) twice, (ch 2, sc in ch 2 space) twice, ch 2, *(sc in next dc, ch 2) 3 times, (sc in ch 2 space, ch 2) twice*, repeat from * to * around, join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Attach Color A to the opposite side of the cowl and repeat the edging.
